Laredo Woman, Maria Ludivinia Resendez, Arrested in SNAP Fraud Investigation.

Authorities say a Laredo woman has been arrested in connection with a cash-for-SNAP benefits scheme uncovered by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission and the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

According to officials, 45-year-old Maria Ludivinia Resendez faces a third-degree felony charge of unauthorized possession of food stamp benefits. If convicted, she could face 2 to 10 years in prison and fines of up to $10,000.

Court documents allege that investigators carried out an undercover operation at a local motel, where Resendez reportedly exchanged cash for SNAP/EBT benefits. Authorities say she later used an investigator’s covert card to make multiple purchases totaling more than $825.

This case highlights ongoing efforts by state and federal agencies to combat food stamp fraud and protect resources meant for families in need.

The case has been passed to the Webb County Attorney’s Office for review and possible prosecution.
