Laken Ashlee Snelling bonded out in Kentucky
LEXINGTON, Ky.- A senior at the University of Kentucky is facing charges after police say she hid her infant’s body in a trash bag inside a closet.
Laken Snelling, 21, was arrested Sunday and charged with abuse of a corpse, tampering with physical evidence, and concealing the birth of an infant.
The Lexington Police Department says officers responded a call out to a house on Park Avenue about unresponsive infant on Wednesday, who was later pronounced dead at the scene. According to an arrest citation, the baby’s body was found wrapped in a towel in a trash bag inside the closet.
Snelling was identified as the infant’s mother.
According to police, Snelling admitted that she gave birth, then tried to hide what happened by cleaning up and putting everything- including the baby- inside the trash bag.
An autopsy is being performed to determine the cause of death. Snelling is due in court on Tuesday, Sept 2nd.
